Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 21, 2026
This policy explains how SMW Studios, LLC ("SMW Studios," "we," "us") — an independent game studio based in Georgia, USA — handles information when you visit smwstudios.net (the "Site") or play our games, including Falling Fields and Comet Cadet (the "Games"). Our approach is simple: we collect as little as possible, and we never ask for your real-world identity.
Our games
Information the Games handle
- Leaderboard display name (games with leaderboards, e.g. Comet Cadet) — if you choose to submit a score, the short name you type (up to 12 characters) is saved and shown publicly on our leaderboards next to your score. The name is entirely your choice — please don't use real personal information as your display name. We may remove names that are abusive or contain personal details.
- Scores and game progress (games with leaderboards) — scores you submit are sent to our global leaderboards to rank players.
- Anonymous app ID (games with online features) — when you use online features (leaderboards or friends), the Game creates an anonymous account — a random ID generated by Firebase Anonymous Authentication. It is not linked to your real name, email, phone number, or any sign-in. It exists only so the Game can keep your scores and friend connections associated with you. Reinstalling the app or clearing its data creates a new one.
- Friends (games with a friends feature) — if you use the friends feature, the Game generates a random friend code you can share and stores the list of friend IDs you add, so it can show you a friends leaderboard. We do not access your phone contacts.
- Advertising data (ad-supported games, e.g. the Falling Fields mobile app) — some of our mobile app versions show non-personalized (contextual) ads served by Google AdMob (rewarded videos you choose to watch, and occasional full-screen ads). To deliver ads, cap how often you see them, and prevent fraud, AdMob may process device information (such as device model, operating system, and IP address) and an advertising identifier. This information is shared with Google as the ad provider, and Google may infer approximate (city-level) location from your IP address; we do not receive it in a form that identifies you. We do not use ads to build advertising profiles of you, and we never serve personalized or behavioural ads. Where required (for example in the EEA, UK, and Switzerland), the game asks for your consent before any ad is shown. Ads appear only in our mobile apps.
- Purchases — some games offer an optional one-time Remove Ads purchase. Purchases are processed entirely by Apple or Google; we receive confirmation that a purchase happened and store it on your device — we never see your payment card details.
- On-device data. High scores, preferences, and cached leaderboards are stored on your own device so the Game remembers your settings. This stays on your device.
What we do not collect
Our Games do not require an account or sign-in. We do not collect your real name, email address, phone number, precise location, contacts, or photos. Our Games contain no analytics, attribution, or crash-reporting SDKs. The only third-party SDK that receives any data is Google AdMob, in our ad-supported mobile apps, and only for the non-personalized ad purposes described above — we do not use it to track you across other apps or websites. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for personalized or behavioural advertising.
Service providers
Leaderboard and friends data is stored with Google Firebase (Cloud Firestore and Firebase Authentication), our database and authentication provider, and is transmitted over encrypted (HTTPS) connections. Ads in ad-supported games are served by Google AdMob. See the Firebase privacy information, AdMob privacy information, and Google Privacy Policy. Our Games are distributed through the Apple App Store and Google Play, which have their own privacy policies.
Our website
The Site is a static informational site. We set no analytics or advertising cookies and the Site has no accounts or forms. Our host, Cloudflare, processes standard technical request data (such as IP address and browser type) to serve and secure the Site and may set strictly-necessary security cookies. The Site loads fonts from Google Fonts, which means Google's servers may receive your IP address when a page loads. Links to our social accounts (X, Bluesky, Mastodon) and email addresses are governed by those services' own policies.
Children
Our Games and Site are intended for general audiences and are not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age where you live) — apart from the self-chosen display name, scores, and anonymous ID described above, and the ad-delivery data (advertising identifier, device information, and IP address) processed by Google AdMob when ads are shown in our mobile apps. Ads in our games are non-personalized for everyone, are limited to a general "G" content rating, and we do not tag our games for child-directed treatment. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, email support@smwstudios.net and we will delete it.
How we use information
Only to run the Games (leaderboards, friends, saved progress), show non-personalized ads that keep ad-supported games free, keep them secure and fair (including preventing cheating and abuse), fix bugs, and respond to your messages. Where we ask for your consent to show ads, consent is our legal basis; otherwise we rely on our legitimate interest in operating and securing the Games. We build our games to be fair by design — no pay-to-win and no manipulative design.
Your ad choices
Where an ad-consent prompt is shown (for example in the EEA, UK, and Switzerland), you can decline it. You can also reset or limit your advertising identifier at any time in your device settings (iOS: Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking / Apple Advertising; Android: Settings → Google → Ads), and the optional Remove Ads purchase turns ads off in that game.
Deleting your data
- Leaderboard or friends data: email support@smwstudios.net with your display name (and friend code, if possible) and we will remove your leaderboard entries and associated profile/friends data.
- On-device data: clearing the app's data (or your browser's site data) removes locally stored scores, preferences, and the anonymous ID from that device.
- Ad data: information processed for ad delivery is held by Google, not by us, so we cannot delete it on your behalf. You can reset or delete your advertising identifier in your device settings, and the one-time Remove Ads purchase stops ad requests (and the associated data collection) in that game.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or port your information, or to object to certain processing. To exercise any of these, email support@smwstudios.net — we honor reasonable requests regardless of where you live, and we won't treat you differently for asking. Users in the EEA/UK also have the right to complain to their local supervisory authority.
Data retention & security
We keep information only as long as needed to run the Games; leaderboard entries persist until you ask us to remove them or a leaderboard is retired. Data is transmitted over encrypted connections and stored with the providers above. No method of storage is 100% secure, but we use reasonable safeguards and hold as little data as possible in the first place.
International transfers
We are based in the United States and our providers (Google, Cloudflare) may process data in the US and other countries, relying on appropriate safeguards for international transfers.
Changes to this policy
We will update this policy as our Games evolve — for example, if a future update changes what a Game collects, or adds a new ad format or purchase, we will describe the change here. The ads and the optional Remove Ads purchase described above are already live in the Falling Fields mobile app. Updates are posted on this page with a new "Last updated" date, and we'll provide more prominent notice of material changes.
